  Lara Corsets is a home based boutique couturier specializing in historically accurate and inspired corsets and gowns for women. At this time all work is custom order with no rentals or wholesale options available. Lara does all the work herself in her new fully equipped workshop within her home.

Overlooking the NYC skyline and Hudson river in West New York, New Jersey, Lara Corsets is a short and scenic 15 minute bus ride from the Port Authority in NYC.

Past Work Experience
  Who is this Lara person anyway?  
  I am a costume and wardrobe person from New York City and a member of the Theatrical Wardrobe Union Local #764, I.A.T.S.E.  I have been obsessed with and sewing historic costume since childhood. Despite my Parents claim that "no-one makes any money playing with costumes",  I have been "playing" professionally with costumes for over 14 years now.  Most of my work has focused around Film & TV lately but I also work with Theatre, Opera and Print media as well.

(A woman obsessed) I do have a dangerous weakness for yard sales, flea markets and E-Bay. (I am working on the whole self control thing). I collect (and covet): Antique corsets (pre-1915), anything related to antique corsets, period patterns (especially the early 1900s & 1930's!), Antique lace, fabrics, trims, period garments, costume history books and periodicals, and unusual antique keys.

Lara's favorite escape from reality is to travel and scuba dive

Oh, and I love all animals. Especially big mushy dogs, white ferrets and chubby red cats!
