1908 Ball Gown

May 2006

This gown was a custom order and has been sold

This gown is a reproduction based on a 1908 fashion plate in a book I purchased in Italy some time ago. Gown is made from a lavender silk crepe back satin and lined in silk taffeta. We selected an exquisite antique lace for the upper part of the bodice and a bias cut metallic brocade for the lower hem. The chevroned upper hem is edged with a gold metallic band with bullion tassels at each of the five points.

To make it more like the original design, hand embroidery will soon be added to the chevroned hem by the talented Donna Carty.

I love the way it moves so liquid like when she dances in it!

My client is involved with the Elegant Arts Society which a lovely group of people specializing in Historical dance.

The above photos were taken during their Centennial Dance weekend held in New Haven, CT. in May of 2006.
