1817 Day Gown

 Spring 2007

Reproduction is based on a combination of the two different 1817 Costume Parisian Fashion plates shown. The fashion plates are just three numbers apart from each other and would have likely been issued the same month in 1817.

This gown is of light weight embroidered cotton with cotton gauze and piping. The separate under slip layer is made of a nude color light silk which similar to what in the period would have been called  "sarsnet".  She is wearing it with the cotton chemisette I made her, since it would be improper for a Lady to expose her décolleté in the daylight.

(The exquisite custom bonnet was made by Pam at Victorianbonnets.com, I just dyed and added the feathers.)

This gown was custom and has been sold.

I do not duplicate my work, I would love to make you something similar if you like.
